As promised - Unofficial MIDIBox SeqV4 build guide

Nicholas Keller-2
Hey

Back in April, there was a thread which talked about information being difficult to sort through with regards to building a SeqV4.  I said I'd share some notes on my experience (so far) but that I was juggling a few projects and that it might take a while. Apologies for the delay, and unfortunately I am STILL not finished with my build so this guide is incomplete in some respects, but here is a link to what I've compiled so far. Everything you need to know to build a basic SeqV4 (midi in/out) is here or linked to from here. I didn't want to copy text and graphics from the official MIDIBox sites, so for information like "what plug goes where", "what jumpers do what", and "how to flash firmware and edit the .txt file", just follow the main link (usually a ucapps.de branch) in each module's section.

Questions, comments, corrections can be posted in this AH thread or directed to [hidden email].  If I don't know the answer, I'll find someone who does.

If got some stuff to do today, so if anyone posts in this thread, just give me some time to reply.

Thanks and I hope this can help someone!

Nick

Wanted to update to say that I've added the female IDC connectors to relevant kits and changed the electrolytic caps in the AOUT_NG kit to better fit the layout and lead spacing.

Also, if anyone here is seriously considering building one of these and including the analog breakout for CV/Gate/Etc, I have two extra sets of the Line Driver boards that you can buy from me instead of waiting for someone on the forum to sell some or having them fabricated yourself.  If you haven't read that far, if you have them fabricated, you'll probably end up with and have to pay for multiple copies and be in the same position as I am.  I posted on the forum months ago asking to buy someone's extras and had no replies, so I went ahead and ordered from OSH Park.  The boards cost me $15.30 per set, and they would be shipping from Florida

If nobody here wants them within a few weeks, I'll offer them on the forum.

Finally, I'm not sure what the status is with the Control Surface boards.  I hear rumors of personal problems delaying the chap from MIDIBox Shop, and I see a post about a "Lisa" having permission to produce a run, but she was unable to complete her efforts and bowed out. Hopefully someone else will step in to restore availability asap
