This guy sells a lot of out-of-production IC's on E-bay, I've seen him offer
SSM filter chips & 4096-stage BBD IC's. The latter is what I got screwed on, it seems he's selling counterfeit (knock-off's) MN3005 & MN3205's........what I got was a 2048-stage BBD (still in production & cheap to buy) that had been relabled as a MN3205 (discontinued). What's worse, I've let him know they are counterfeits & about to send 'em back for a refund, but he is still selling them....so he's got no scrupples. Both the MN3205 & MN3005's look fake comparing them to the panasonic chips I've got & Chip4brains stock. He's sold a bunch of them already (in sets of 10), so I'm sure a lot of folks are gonna be pissd off. I'll update if I ever get a refund...... buy from him at your own caution, I know some people have had positive experiences....but not I. Cheers Ryan |
Damn, this post along with another at SDIY pretty much confirms that
people should steer clear of this seller. I've got a bunch of chips on the way myself, I'll post when I've got them in hand. |
I ordered a load of CA3080 (50 pieces) for them (through Chipforbrains who
is associated with them i believe) i got something totally different.... That was a while back now... > Damn, this post along with another at SDIY pretty much confirms that > people should steer clear of this seller. Yea, definatly stay away from the 3080's, another buyer over at SDIY
got a bunch of crap units. However, I don't believe there is any relation to chipforbrains, who in my expirience has come through with the goods. |

But in terms of accuracy and quality of products i cannot complain. i've ordered multiple times several stuff for $$$ at his store. unfortunately, he seems to be the "only" source of cheap stuff. if somebody knows a company in shenzen, i'll be able to help because of a friend living there ( he can ship, but have no clue about CA3080 or other stuff). --jan |

Ditto. I bought from chipforbrains and THEN heard he was sketchy.
But he turned up the slider caps for my 106. Then I got fusked by the seller for the 106 which arrived damaged and was messed up to begin with. But that's another story. Just for the record, chipforbrains & hongkongsuperseller are two totally
different sellers. Chipforbrains is a great source of RELIABLE vintage parts, and his prices are great. I ordered a 6-pack of brand-new matched SSM2044's for about $60 shipped....... I'm glad i took that route, cause i noticed hksuperseller sells the same "alleged" parts at a cheaper rate....but who knows what I would have got. Support chip4brains when you can, he is one of the only sources of some very hard to find parts for vintage gear. So, Chip4Brains = "the man" hongkongsuperseller = "a sham" Seeya Ryan > >I ordered a load of CA3080 (50 pieces) for them (through Chipforbrains who >is associated with them i believe) i got something totally different.... > >That was a while back now... > > >>Damn, this post along with another at SDIY pretty much confirms that >>people should steer clear of this seller. Not long ago I was about to order several items (including many CA3080's) from Mr. Superseller, since those prices seemed good indeed. After he quoted the shipping costs, I suffered from hickups for over an hour and quickly changed my mind. Seems now that was a wise decision. :-) Senso -- -------------------------------------------------- ............... VINTAGE PLANET ................ Hi,
Just to clarify, my last post, i was replying to message posted by someone else... I wasnt posting a bad trader report for Chipforbrains, i too have bought loads of stuff from Chipforbrains and i think Cy is generally a good guy, the few items ive had that didnt work were replaced etc... All i was saying id i bought 50 pieces of CA3080E from Chipforbrains and what arrived was 50 pieces of something else... He did send me out something else to the same value when i asked him about it... I then purchased 50 pieces of CA3080E instead from Hongkongseller. I also made an assumption that Chipfrobrains is associated with Hongkongseller. I dont know this for a fact, to be honest, i havent given it much thought, but it has crossed my mind several times in the past... Same sort of products, etc... Chipforbrains often ships the parts from Hongkong to his customers... I thought he had some sort of deal with them, but im probably wrong... Anyway, just an email to clarify i think Chipforbrains is a good guy and in no way a bad trader... We could do with more guys like him out there offering old spare parts... Regards, Rob. > HI I have had great luck with chipforbrains, I highly recommend him. cya > analoguejeff > > > > for ambient electronic music -visit www.jeffreykoepper.com |

Hi
I had a email-talk to a wellknown german synth manufacturer about this hongkongsuperseller, and he could confirm this with the worst stories. He also mentioned a american specialist for rare spare parts with whom he is dealing now, where he is very satisfied. He did not name the american source, but I assume, it is chipforbrains. Florian |
